Generation Alpha
is anyone born in the years from 2010 to 2025. The earliest members are just learning to walk while the oldest are entering high school.
Analog means not computerized, not digitized. We want Generation Alpha to be adept at technology without being dominated by it.
The massive and unregulated spike in screen and social media usage has wreaked havoc on the hearts and minds of Generation Z. Since 2010, when social media and cellphones became ubiquitous, the rates of anxiety, depression, self harm, and suicide have spiked in young people. This cannot be allowed to happen in Generation Alpha. We now know better, so we must do better.

THE 4 NEW NORMS*
No Smartphones Before High School
Parents should delay children’s entry into round-the-clock internet access by giving only basic phones (phones with limited apps and no internet browser) before 9th grade (roughly age 14).
No Social Media Before 16
Let kids get through the most vulnerable period of brain development before connecting them to a firehose of social comparison and algorithmically chosen influencers.
Phone-free Schools
In all schools from elementary through high school, students should store their phones, smartwatches, and any other personal devices that can send or receive texts in phone lockers or locked pouches during the school day to free up their attention.
More independence, free play, and responsibility in the real world
That’s the way children naturally develop social skills, overcome anxiety, and become self-governing young adults.

Why analog alpha?
There is an enormous amount of data and resources available to parents and educators about the dangers of screen time and social media, but we have yet to see that information take root in the general population.
Analog Alpha is addressing this problem by creating local chapters of parents and Alphas who work together to bring about change in their community.
Parents and Alphas will be informed to understand the nature of the problem and equipped to approach it together.
Alphas will be encouraged to see being an Analog Alpha as an identity and an act of rebellion against the screen-based society.
Being an Analog Alpha does not mean being a luddite or Amish, it means having a healthy relationship with technology where it stays a tool rather than becoming a tyrant.
Together we can make a change and keep
Generation Alpha, Analog.
